Tutoring is a very rewarding career
Being a tutor means being able to teach something in a way which suits each individual student. While teaching requires a style of group teaching, tutoring is down to the individual. You can inject your own personality into your lessons, we are not looking for robots!
A lot of the success in our tutoring sessions comes down to a personal connection between the tutor and the student. After all, the last thing a tutor wants to be seen as is another school teacher. While we must also be professional, that doesn’t mean we can’t be friendly towards the students. A teacher would tell you the same thing!
Constant Progress
More than anything, a tutor is aiming to see a little bit of progress in every session. Tutoring is not an overnight fix and we must be dedicated to doing everything we can to make sure our students keep progressing at their own pace. You can’t rush progress and you must be patient. Remember, everyone learns in different ways and for some people. it does take longer than others. That does not mean they are less intelligent, everyone learns as an individual.
This constant progress is also a very rewarding aspect of tutoring.
Choose your own subjects
At Chambers Tutoring, we will not ask you to teach certain subjects. It’s your choice! We need you to have an expert understanding in your chosen subjects but you can teach as many or as few different subjects as you like! We have some tutors who specialise in only one or two, and others who can teach more than 5 different ones! All are equally valuable members of the team.
Part-time or full-time career
Tutoring with CT allows for flexibility. We understand how demanding life can be sometimes, and we have no minimum requirement for how many students you will need to take. We also understand that you may want to start with just one and build from there. This is a fairly standard way to start tutoring, particularly if you have no past experience!
You can also make tutoring a full-time career! We have two full-time tutors in our ranks so far and we are always excited to find people who want to follow the same career path!
No Experience Needed!
When starting out as a tutor, remember that we all start somewhere! Tutors at Chambers Tutoring do not need to have experience of teaching, and they don’t even need a degree! All you need to tutor with us is expert knowledge in at least one subject, a willingness to learn and the right attitude. If we see that you are the right fit, we will help you in every way we can.
It’s commonly mistaken that tutors need to have teaching degrees but this simply is not the case. Tutors are not teachers, it is a different skillset although there are some commonalities.
